WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR EVIDENCE?

Leon FontaineDevoted

Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. Hebrews 11:1 (AMP) Your five senses continually grab information from the physical world. Sometimes that information goes against what God’s Word says.  For example, you may be believing God for healing, but the physical evidence is saying, “I look and feel sick today.” Or you may be considering two job opportunities, and one looks better on paper but you sense God leading you toward the second option. In both scenarios, you have a choice to make. Will you allow your five senses to dictate what you believe or …

TRAINING YOUR HEART (PART 3)

Remember the Lord [Know him] in all you do [on all your paths], and he will give you success [keep your roads straight]. Proverbs 3:6 (EXB) Yesterday we covered two ways to train your heart: meditating on and practicing God’s Word regularly. Today we’ll look at two more exercises to add to your heart workout.  Give God’s Word first place in your life. I don’t just mean making time for devotions. I’m talking about giving the Word precedence in every decision in life. If I’m sick, I’ll see a doctor or change my diet, but I don’t give those things first place. First and foremost, I focus on God’s promises about healing. In business, I learn strategies, but I don’t depend on earthly wisdom. I …

TRAINING YOUR HEART (PART 2)

“Let the words from the book of the law be always on your lips. Meditate on them day and night so that you may be careful to live by all that is written in it. If you do, as you make your way through this world, you will prosper and always find success.” Joshua 1:8 (VOICE) Yesterday we discovered our ability to live like Jesus in this world—with the power of God alive in us wherever we go. But to tap into this power, we have to train our hearts the way athletes train their bodies.  Today and tomorrow we’re going to look at four ways to give your heart a daily spiritual workout.  Meditate on the Word. We feed our bodies every day, but …

TRAINING YOUR HEART (PART 1)

Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.” Matthew 21:21 (NLT) As believers, you and I have an unfair advantage over the rest of the world. What is it? It’s the ability to exercise the power of God.  In Matthew 21, Jesus came across a fig tree that had no figs to offer. He cursed it to never bear fruit again—and the tree withered up. The disciples were shocked, but Jesus told them if they had faith, they could do even more than that. They could speak to a …

DON’T WAIT TO GROW

Leon FontaineDevoted

So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Hebrews 6:1 (NLT) Are you waiting around for God to move?  In the Old Testament, God’s people had to wait for Him to show up. Take Elijah for instance. He saw seven miracles happen in his lifetime. His successor, Elisha, saw fourteen. Nowadays, I know believers who’ve seen more than fourteen miracles in a single calendar year!  Under the new covenant, we are no longer waiting for God to act. He has already moved by sending Jesus to die for us. Now as a born-again believer, you are already healed. Provision is already yours. You have already been qualified for …
