So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Hebrews 6:1 (NLT)
Are you waiting around for God to move?
In the Old Testament, God’s people had to wait for Him to show up. Take Elijah for instance. He saw seven miracles happen in his lifetime. His successor, Elisha, saw fourteen. Nowadays, I know believers who’ve seen more than fourteen miracles in a single calendar year!
Under the new covenant, we are no longer waiting for God to act. He has already moved by sending Jesus to die for us. Now as a born-again believer, you are already healed. Provision is already yours. You have already been qualified for every promise. In fact, as Jesus is in this world so are you (1 John 4:17)!
Yet I still meet Christians who mix old and new covenant doctrine. They live in defeat, begging God for what has already been decided. Some of them tell me, “I tried declaring God’s promises, but it didn’t work.” The thing is, you don’t try these things. You grow in these things. Or they say, “I don’t have enough faith.” But that’s not true either—we have all been given the measure of faith!
As you feed on God’s Word and fellowship with Holy Spirit, He renews your mind. He updates your thinking with His thinking and deepens your understanding.
When you grow in the Word, you’re no longer waiting for God to drop a miracle into your lap—because He already has through Jesus. You can begin to declare in faith, “The answer to all of God’s promises in my life is yes and amen!”
