Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? 1 Corinthians 3:16 (ESV) People are fascinated with stories about superheroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, The Wolverine, The Hulk and Superman. One thing they all share in common is hidden power. They each had to learn who they were, where their power came from, and what they could do. Then they had to learn how to handle that power. A couple years ago a Superman movie came out that showed him as a teenager, discovering his powers and understanding how to harness it and help others. As I watched, it struck me that a lot of believers also walk through life unaware of the power they hold in Christ! …
A Great Boost When You’re Feeling Low
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18 (ESV) Do you ever wake up feeling low? I get those days too, and when I do, I put on a good teaching podcast or CD and let it feed me truths from God’s Word. By the end of the message, I feel refreshed and changed. Many think the only way to get to know God is by reading the Bible. However, a relationship with God involves more than just knowing facts by reading text; it’s about understanding the revelations of God’s concepts, His thinking, and His ways. While the Scriptures are always the basis for teaching, God has also given us gifted pastors, teachers and apostles in …
Taste The Freedom!
For if you embrace the truth, it will release true freedom into your lives. John 8:32 (TPT) When I was a kid, we often heard about hockey players and other athletes from Eastern Bloc communist countries who tried to defect while staying in Canada, at great risk to themselves and their families. Seeing the freedom Canadians enjoyed kindled a yearning in them to abandon their country. Why? Because getting a taste of freedom changes you. Likewise, when someone hears the gospel shared in a way that highlights God’s grace and the freedom it brings, it can impact the heart of that person in a way that forever changes them. For example, if you struggle with low self-worth, hearing that you’re the apple of your Heavenly …
End-Time Prophesies: What’s In Store?
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. John 16:33 (ESV) The church world seems fascinated with trying to decipher the end-time prophecies in the book of Revelation. Although many of the prophecies in Revelation were fulfilled by 70 A.D, this pre occupation seems to spread nothing but fear amongst believers. Should this be our focus? Think about this: Jesus died on the cross and defeated sin, death and Satan (Hebrews 2:14–18, Colossians 1:13–14, 2:14–15, 1 John 3:8). Jesus is not coming back to mercifully rescue a whipped, whimpering remnant of believers. He’s coming back for a glorious, passionate, explosive church that’s on fire …
Understanding This One Word Leads To Unlimited Blessings!
You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! John 5:39 (NLT) The Bible often talks about the “word,” but without any knowledge of the original language in which it was written, it can lead to some misunderstanding. It helps to know there are three different original Greek terms that are translated to “word” in the Bible, each with a different meaning. Understanding the differences changes not only how we read Scripture, but how we grasp what God is telling us. First, there’s the Greek word graphe, as is used in today’s verse. This means written word or Scripture. Then there’s rhema, which means the spoken word. For example, Romans 10:17 (NKJV) says, Faith comes by …
