Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
Believers who aren’t aware that they are sons and daughters of God often fall into one of two ruts. Because they aren’t accessing God’s power to live their Christian lives, they tend to make one of two choices. They either fake it or they beg for it.
Many Christians can fake the “good Christian life” well. They act like they’re at peace and put on a loving, caring façade, but they can only keep the act up so long. When pressure hits, they lose composure or fall into sin, and everyone around them wonders what happened because they seemed to have it all together.
Others see themselves as weak, lowly sinners who are barely saved by grace who have to pray, fast, and beg God to try to invoke His compassion. While I understand that God’s grace is always there when you fail and that His mercy follows you all the days of your life, you are to live like the son or daughter of God that you are. You are not a sinner; you’re a new creation. Through Christ, you have access to power and abilities far beyond what you understand.
This new you is stunning. The reality is that you are more than a conqueror through Him Who loves you (Romans 8:37). You are free from the power of sin that leads to death (Romans 8:2). You are holy and without fault in God’s eyes (Ephesians 1:4), born of God, and untouched by the enemy (1 John 5:18).
In Christ, you’re pretty amazing, and it’s time you realized it!
