You’re Not Alone

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Ephesians 6:10

The word “grace” in the Bible refers to the amazing ability God makes available within all Christians. It’s a force; it’s a power; it’s a capacity that is freely given to all and experienced by those who believe it is theirs.

Rather than living in our own strength and power, Ephesians 6:10 says that we can be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might. The trouble is that we’ve all learned to do the opposite.

We learn that to make it in this world, we need to be strong, disciplined, independent and determined. Quotes like, “If you want something done right, do it yourself” and “Create the life you want because no one is going to do it for you” become our mantras.

While there’s a certain level of truth to these statements and it’s good to develop great characteristics that lead to success, there’s more to it. If you want to live a successful life in every area—health, finances, relationships and spiritually—you need to avail yourself to God’s grace as you step out in faith.

Don’t fall into the trap of relying on just your own efforts, your own emotional strength and your own willpower to try to fix whatever needs fixing in your life. God’s grace is a power that he’s made available within you to empower you for every area of life—sickness, temptations, addictions, relationship problems, anger, self-worth issues and any other challenge you may face.

As you go about your week, be more aware of this grace every day and remember that as a believer, God’s grace—his power and ability—is in you!
