Your Biggest Temptation

Leon FontaineDevoted

The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. Galatians 5:17 (NLT)

In life, there will be times when you have to face challenges—financial struggles, heath problems, or people lying about you. Whatever challenge it may be, you’ll need to stay strong. But one of the biggest temptations you’ll ever face as a Christian is the desire to slow down and relax.

When no one else around you seems to be working hard or when everything seems to be going fine without your help, you can lose your sense of urgency and your passion for the cause of Christ. The trouble is that forgetting about His purposes for your life and being focused on your own comfort is the most miserable way to live.

There are times when you won’t feel like serving God or helping others, but don’t let your feelings decide what you do. Galatians 5:17 says that our flesh and the Spirit are in conflict with each other, and it’s talking about the selfish side of us. Don’t ask yourself if you feel like it. Tell yourself what you’re going to do because God’s grace is on you to do it!

Decide that you’re going to be all that you can be for our leader, King Jesus. His grace is with you to do it. Regardless of which gifts and abilities you have or which tasks have been entrusted to you, God’s grace—His favour, ability and power—is with you to accomplish all He has for you. Trust in Him, then get up and do what needs to be done, no matter what everyone else is doing or saying.
