But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby ), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [ in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf ], He will teach you all things. John 14:26 (AMPC)

When kids are learning how to ride their bikes, we often see their parents running alongside as they pedal, ready to steady them if they lose their balance. What motivates these kids to keep trying when they fall? It’s encouragement, not scolding. “You’re doing great! You almost got it that time!” They are praised for trying—and for the success they do achieve.

This is how our Father God encourages believers. He’s cheering us on, encouraging us to try again. He’s not a critical father who wants

to rub our faces in our mistakes.

The trouble is that we often see Him this way. We feel as though nothing we do is ever good enough for Him, but that’s not how He looks at us. And when we think of God as a critical, angry father, we avoid Him when we need Him most. He wants us to come to Him for steadying, for strength and for the power to get back up again after we fall.

God is not critical of you. In today’s verse, God’s Holy Spirit is not referred to as the Judge, Critic, Faultfinder, Nitpicker, Condemner and Hyper-critic! In fact, Satan is “the accuser,” not Holy Spirit! (Job 1-2, Proverbs 15:11, Revelation 12:10, AMPC)

Jesus said that Holy Spirit is your Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strength and Standby. He is for your good and is empowering you to live out the amazing plans He has for you.
