Your Best Friend Wants To Comfort You

But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. John 14:26 (AMPC)

We were designed in our relationship with God to enjoy fellowship with Him every day. In fact, without this partnership, companionship and guidance, we feel like orphans. The good news is that as believers, we CAN enjoy God every day. We have Holy Spirit in us, and over the next few days we’re going to expand on how He influences our lives.

In today’s verse, we receive seven names for Holy Spirit, each name describes a function that He does and these help us to understand in a greater measure how He desires to work in our lives. The first is “Comforter.”

We all go through seasons of hurt and loss in our lives. Even if we have incredible people around us who encourage and support us when times are tough, nothing can compare to the comfort Holy Spirit offers. He is with us and in us always. Late at night when we’re all alone or when we’re feeling weary and we’re not sure if we can go on, His presence is a gift that can comfort us as we walk through that valley.

Whether it’s the loss of a loved one or a job, a health struggle, a divorce or something you’ve done that you regret, He understands. He’s not interested in judging or condemning you. And there’s nothing you need to do to earn this incredible comfort.

Comfort from God is a gift, it’s one of the most beautiful gifts you can ever receive. Even in the midst of walking through the pain, you can experience His unbelievable peace.
