For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 1 John 5:4 (NKJV)
According to 1 John 5:4, not only some people but EVERY person born of God overcomes. You can have victory through Jesus over absolutely anything.
If you give your life to Jesus, you become born of God. You enter into a whole new life. You’re adopted into God’s family and you become spiritually brand new.
As a result, you have the power you need to overcome anything that comes your way. 1 Corinthians 15:57 also expresses this victory, saying God gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (NKJV). It’s clear that you never need to accept defeat! Yet, have you ever felt defeated? Difficult circumstances, temptations and old habits may knock you down, causing you to wonder if you really do have the ability to overcome.
If we read the rest of 1 John 5:4, it gives us the key to gaining the victory we’re promised. We need to activate this key if we want to overcome. It’s faith.
