It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
John 6:63 (NKJV)
God’s Word is alive. Jesus said that the words He has spoken to us are Spirit and life, which means they are so much more than words on a page.
If you keep reading, meditating on and claiming God’s promises, you will find that they begin to change your belief systems. Over time, your thoughts and heart beliefs will begin to come into agreement with what God’s Word says.
This devotion time is how you carry out James’ instructions in James 4:7. It says, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” When you spend time in God’s Word, you are submitting to God, which empowers you to stop submitting to things that the Spirit of God within you is resisting.
The word salvation in the Bible does not just mean saved from hell.
It means saved from hell, disease, spiritual death and every curse of the law found in the Bible. Therefore, the presence of God within you resists addiction, self-destructive tendencies, hopelessness, sickness and mental illness. It resists poverty, fear, anxiety and worry. There’s a positive resistant force within you because the presence of God is within you, and it resists everything that tries to come against what Jesus died to give you.
As a believer, you have the right to exercise power and authority over what is going on in your world by claiming God’s promises. The more you meditate on God’s Word and claim it, the more you get your mind into agreement with what is yours in Christ and the more you experience it!
