You Are Limited By Your Prayer Life

You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority…. Psalm 8:6 (NLT)

Your destiny depends upon your ability to pray.

World-renowned Christian leader John Wesley wrote, “It seems God is limited by our prayer life—that He can do nothing for humanity unless someone asks Him.” It’s true: God is limited by your prayer life.

You see, at the beginning God put Adam and Eve in charge of this earth. However, they handed that authority over to Satan when they chose to listen to him instead of God. That transfer of authority made Satan “the god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4, NLT), but when Jesus died and rose again, he made it possible for us to come out from under Satan’s rule. By giving your life to Jesus, you restore God as the leader of your life and you regain your rights and privileges as His kid.

That being said, it’s still up to you to enforce those rights and privileges. And this is where prayer comes in.

Prayer is what connects the supernatural to the natural. It’s what brings God’s power into your situation. Actually, prayer is like invoking your rights as a citizen of your country. You have the right to “life, liberty, and security of person,” but if someone threatens your life, it’s up to you to speak to the authorities and enforce your rights.

In a similar way, prayer is a way of enforcing your rights as a follower of Christ. God’s charter of rights includes health, prosperity, protection, peace and joy. So, if someone or something threatens to take those away from you, it’s up to you to enforce your rights through prayer.

God will not force His help on you, but He’s ever ready and willing to help when you ask. What rights do you need to enforce today?
