Such is the reliance and confidence that we have through Christ toward and with reference to God. Not that we are fit…to claim or count anything as coming from us, but our power and ability and sufficiency are from God.
2 Corinthians 3:4–5 (AMPC)
We’ve been on a series in our devotions this week, talking about how to live as the new creations we are in Christ. We’ve discussed how we need to look into the mirror of God’s Word to see our true reflection, and that there are specific things to look for as we study God’s Word.
For one, we need to see that God’s power is in us. We also need to see that Christ is in us. Today I’d like to discuss a third thing to look for as a new creation in Christ: God works through us. When studying God’s Word to discover who you are, you need to see that God works through you as a believer.
Your power, ability and sufficiency are from God. God is “effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good plea- sure and satisfaction and delight” (Philippians 2:13, AMPC).
As you go about your everyday life, remember that God is working in and through you. It might be through something as small as a smile you share with someone who is having a bad day. It may seem like nothing to you, but the presence of God can radiate through you.
Stay open. God works through you, and when you get to heaven, I think you’re going to be surprised to hear of how many miracles took place just because you were willing to be kind or act on a little nudge.
