Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. Proverbs 24:3–4 (NKJV)
What are you believing for?
Let’s say you’re praying for a salary of $250,000 a year. One day, a miracle happens. You land a position as CEO of a multimillion-dollar company. You’ve got the corner office and it’s everything you dreamed about. Now the question is, will you be able to keep the job?
Yesterday we talked about how we often don’t have a miracle problem, but a wisdom problem. You may have received that job by miraculous appointment, but unless you understand how to lead people and run a corporation, you won’t keep your position very long.
The Bible teaches that anything we desire in life, we have to build. Notice that today’s verse doesn’t say miracles build the house or fill it with pleasant riches. Wisdom does. Does God bless us? Of course. Does He want to get involved in your situation? Absolutely!
But the truth is, concerning anything you have in life that lasts, wisdom has helped you get there. By all means, we should give God credit for everything He does in our lives, but at the same time, we need to do our part to pursue wisdom and maturity.
If you want a better marriage, pick up a book on marriage. If you want a promotion, develop your skills and learn how to manage people. If you want a healthier body, find out what you can do to exercise and eat well. Don’t just wait for life to happen. Study God’s Word and go after wisdom. Holy Spirit is going to lead you into all truth in every area (John 16:13)!
