Willing To Risk It All…For You

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 (NKJV)

Years ago, I took my son Zach across a bridge in spring when the ice was breaking up in the river below. We watched as massive chunks of ice shifted and heaved their way down the river, destroying everything in their path.

Just as it crossed my mind that someone falling into that river wouldn’t stand a chance, I glanced back, and my heart stopped. Zach had hoisted his little frame up and was balancing on his stomach as he looked over the railing!

Later, the thought came to me: If he had flipped over into that river, would I have jumped in after him? Even though it made no sense logically, I would have jumped in anyway. Even if there was a miniscule chance to save him, or the chance to just hold him (even if it meant the end of us both), I would have taken it. That’s how much I love him.

Now, I’m only human; imagine what lengths your Father God would go to for the chance to save you! God loves you infinitely more than any human being ever could, because God IS love!

Today’s verse says that even while we were sinners, separated from God with no legal approach to Him, God expressed His love for us by sending Jesus to die in our place. Today, I want you to meditate on that love—a love so incredibly powerful that it caused God to go as far as sending His own Son to be the Saviour to make a relationship with you possible. When it comes to loving you, God is all-in, always and forever!
