When You’re Under Attack

Leon FontaineDevoted

For we are not wrestling with
flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere. Ephesians 6:12 (AMPC)

When reading today’s verse, it might sound a little scary at first. Despotisms, powers, rulers of darkness, spirit forces of wickedness— the lineup sounds straight out of a science fiction movie!
The truth is, believers have nothing to fear. Jesus said that all authority and power are his (Matthew 28:18), he defeated the devil (Matthew 28:18) and he lives in us (Galatians 2:20). Satan has no power over us.

However, Satan can plant lies in people’s minds, and sometimes those lies can interfere. He might try to influence someone not to do business with you, for example, but that doesn’t mean he can stop you from succeeding. God’s favour in your life is infinitely more powerful. Besides that, you can claim God’s Word over Satan’s assignments and stop him in his tracks. You can declare that no weapon formed against you will prosper, every wrong claim against you will be refuted (Isaiah 54:17), you have favour with others (Proverbs 3:4) and you walk in the blessings of God.

When you claim God’s Word, not only does it stop the enemy’s ploys, but it also gives you creative ideas and the strength and stamina you need to solve every issue on a practical level.
Keep claiming those promises as you make decisions and wise choices based on what you know you are entitled to have, and nothing will stop you from walking in God’s promises!
