Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Luke 22:44 (NKJV)
Yesterday we discussed when not to pray “If it’s Your will” prayers of dedication. Today, let’s learn about when to pray this way: when God’s Word is silent on the topic of your prayer.
For example, let’s say you want to move to Tulsa. You are leaning toward the move, but you want to ask God about it.
In this situation, you can’t pray the prayer of faith, saying, “I will move to Tulsa in the name of Jesus,” unless Holy Spirit has made it clear that He wants you to move there. If you’re not sure and it doesn’t concern a promise in His Word, then it’s time to submit. Get to the place where you can pray for God’s will to be done in the situation.
When Jesus prayed before He was to be crucified, He did so to bring Himself to the place where He could do what God wanted no matter what. He came out of this personal battle strong, confident and ready to accept the challenge that lay before Him. To overcome your desire to have things your way, you also have to trust God enough to be okay with what He decides.
You see, God’s will for you is always the best. You can trust that if God is leading you somewhere, even if it doesn’t initially look good it will be the best situation for you once you get there.
Don’t skip this prayer when you face important decisions. If you do, you will wonder if you really are where God wants you to be. Get to neutral ground, pray this prayer and really let God lead. Then you can always be confident that you are doing what God wants you to do.
With that confidence, nothing will stop you.
