However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. Luke 10:20
Could you use a little more
joy in your life?
One thing that causes us not to walk in joy is allowing ourselves to become familiar with what’s going on in our lives. It’s all too easy to take for granted what was once special and precious to us, and when this happens, we no longer walk in the joy and appreciation we once had regarding that area.
There have been times when I’ve been reminded of how awesome it is to do what I do. I start thinking about the hundreds of people who give their life to Jesus every month, and I think of those who are on my team, labouring beside me. I’ve prayed, “God help me to never think of what’s happening here as common. Help me to always be grateful for you and for the people you’ve placed around me.”
Relationships are precious, and we need to make sure that we don’t wait until we lose them to see the value in them. Our relationship with God is also precious. Think about your salvation. How precious is it to you? Meditate on today’s verse. Nothing we could ever do for God is as precious as the fact that we as believers are going to spend eternity in heaven with him!
Let’s get back to rejoicing and being grateful for God and for the people he’s placed in our lives. Get into the habit of appreciating our spouses, our kids, our parents, our coworkers and our friends. Let’s be thankful and get our joy flowing in all these areas of our lives!
