What’s Following You?

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. Psalm 23:6 (NKJV)

When I was young, we used to sing an old hymn with a chorus that went something like this: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me, all the days, all the days of my life.”

It’s funny, but I actually thought that it was talking about three women who were following me: Shirley, Goodness and Mercy!

The thing is, that misunderstanding still paints an accurate picture of what the psalmist was saying. God’s goodness and mercy are following me everywhere I go. And as a believer, they’re following you, too!

If you’re going for a job interview or you have an important meeting to attend, claim this promise. You could say something like this under your breath: “Thank you, Father, that your goodness is following me into this meeting.”

If you have to stand before a judge in court, thank God that His goodness and favour are there with you. You could also claim 2 Corinthians 9:8, too. Say something like, “Thank you, Father, that you’re able to make all grace and every favour and earthly blessing come to me in abundance! I’m claiming that favour today!”

You don’t have to be afraid of what will happen in life.

I’m not saying that you’ll always get an instant change in your situation. But God’s power and full provision are in you throughout the process. Keep claiming God’s promises of goodness, mercy and favour in every situation you walk into!
