What’s Different About You?

When Jesus concluded his address, the crowd burst into applause. They had never heard teaching like this. It was apparent that he was living everything he was saying—quite a contrast to their religion teachers! This was the best teaching they had ever heard. Matthew 7:28-29 (MSG)

There was something about Jesus that caused people to be incredibly attracted to Him. He walked with confidence and caused people to be in awe of how He taught “as one having authority” (Matthew 7:29 NKJV).

He was Spirit-led in every sense of the word and yet he attracted people of varying walks of life.

The disciples in the book of Acts spoke with this authority as well. Wherever they went, they walked with confidence. You can also get to this same level of confident trust in Holy Spirit’s leading.

When thinking of someone who is filled with the Spirit of God, many picture someone who is acting strangely. Being led by the Spirit can be a normal, everyday experience that does not draw any undue attention to you. You do not need to act more out of control when the power of God flows in your life. He does not force you to ignore all social protocol and make others around you uncomfortable. And the last thing He wants is for you to draw attention to yourself, causing others to move their focus away from God.

To be Spirit-led in your normal, everyday life, be confident in Holy Spirit while remaining sensitive to those around you. Just as Jesus did, you will make people wonder: “What’s different about you?”
