But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. Acts 1:8 (NKJV)
In Acts 1:8, Jesus said that Holy Spirit will empower us to be His witnesses.
The definition of being a witness is not complicated. It is simply someone who can give a firsthand account of something they have seen, heard, or experienced. If you have decided to trust in Christ, you are a witness to His influence in your life.
You have a story to tell, and Holy Spirit empowers you to tell it.
Holy Spirit empowered the people of the early church to tell their story even when facing imprisonment and death. In most countries today, we do not face a physical death for our faith. But there are things we do give up to follow Christ—and Holy Spirit empowers us to do it.
He helps us to die to our own self-centred way of living. Instead of making all of our choices based on what is easiest and most comfortable, we turn our focus to helping others. He also helps us to stand strong for our beliefs—regardless of the consequences. With His help, we find ways to share our experiences while respecting the people we speak to. Everyone has a story. What’s yours?
Holy Spirit has given you the power to be a witness and He will bring people across your path that need to hear your story. Don’t be overly concerned about what you will say. He will back your words with His power, making them effective.
