WHAT EVERY SEED NEEDS

For through the eternal and living Word of God you have been born again. And this “seed” that he planted within you can never be destroyed but will live and grow inside of you forever.  1 Peter 1:23 (TPT)

Archaeologists once found seeds buried for thousands of years in King Tut’s tomb. You would have expected those seeds would be hard, lifeless pebbles. Yet amazingly, when planted in soil, they grew!

That reminds me of how God’s Word works in our lives. In John 6:63, Jesus said the words He spoke were more than just verbal sounds—they were spirit and life. And just like the seeds in King Tut’s tomb needed to be planted in soil before they could grow, God’s Word needs to get into your heart before it can produce results.

It’s interesting because the Greek word often used for “seed” in the Bible is actually “sperma”—from which we get the word “sperm.” The Message translation says, “Your old birth came from mortal sperm; your new birth comes from God’s living Word.” In other words, God’s Word is supernatural seed carrying His life, His DNA and His nature in it.

Just as sperm needs a womb to generate new life, every seed needs soil to begin sprouting. Without it, nothing will grow. God’s Word operates the same way.

The Bible will not instantly bring changes to your life if it sits closed on your nightstand. It’s learning and speaking the Word that plants God’s supernatural seeds into the soil of your heart. And when you take the time to tend to those seeds, they’ll start to grow. As that happens, miracles will take place. Old chains of misbeliefs will fall off, and new life will begin inside you!
