What Are You Really Craving?

I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.  John 6:35 (NIV)

When I was growing up,
my mom used to bake
bread once a week. As soon as
I smelled that familiar aroma
wafting through the air, I couldn’t wait to grab a thick slab of warm, fresh-out-of-the-oven bread and slather it with butter until it melted and ran down my fingers.

Nothing tastes better than good food when you’re hungry. But you also experience other forms of hunger that need to be satisfied. Every part of you has an appetite.

Your soul, which includes your mind, has an appetite for absorbing information. If you don’t feed your mind knowledge and keep it sharp, it begins to slow.

Your body craves food, water and touch. If you don’t take in the right quality and quantity of food and water or experience healthy touch, your body can become fragile and weak.

Similarly, your spirit needs God. Without him, it weakens to the point where you can’t experience his peace. Few people recognize this need, which is satisfied when you spend time with him.

Have you been feeding your spirit on a daily basis? If you are stressed out and you can’t seem to relax, maybe you have been forgetting to fill yourself up on God’s presence every day.

Satisfy the need you have for more of God. Take some time to worship and talk to him today.
