Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Psalm 95:1
Time praising God is something we could all use more of. It’s the number one way to stay aware of his presence, which is vital for every believer.
Living in God’s presence keeps us in his rest; it keeps us in the place of trusting him, of experiencing his peace, and of staying grateful for all he’s done and all he’s going to do. And, according to Psalm 95:1 and Psalm 35:27, shouting is one way we can praise God.
When things are pushing against me, sometimes shouting seems to be the most effective way to break free in my mind. Have you ever had things clinging to you like they have a hook in you? Depression or fear can pull at you and threaten to sap your joy. There are times when you’re trying to stay positive but it seems like the stress is just too much. In times like these, you might just need to shout it out.
Sometimes I get into my car and I just start shouting out praises to God. There’s something about praising God that makes my body come into line; it jostles my mind free from the attack of the enemy, and it seems like the louder the praise, the better. I often go on claiming the Word out loud as well, and it seems to break me free.
If you’re having a really bad day, you might need to find a private place where you can shout a little bit. Praise God and praise him loud!
