WALK IN THE POWER YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN

Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. Colossians 3:9–10 (NLT)

Are you living like the child of God you are?

Somewhere along the way, you may have picked up the belief that you need to beg God for everything. You may have been taught to see yourself as a weak, lowly sinner who needs to fast, pray and plead with God to try to make Him feel sorry for you. It’s not true. You are to live like the child of a King that you are!

It’s not that fasting is useless, but often we misunderstand what fasting is for. Fasting doesn’t bring on miracles. Although Jesus told the disciples there was a certain kind of spirit that would only come out through fasting and prayer, we have to remember that Jesus said this before the cross, and times have changed. We now have the Spirit of God living inside each of us, so we don’t have to beg, plead or otherwise try to earn God’s help in any situation. His power is already within each of us.

I’m not saying that you don’t need to pray; just pray with a “new-creation mindset.” You are not a sinner. That sin nature died within you the day you gave your life to Jesus. You’re now a new creation with the nature of God within you. Through Christ, you’re powerful and you have abilities far beyond what you may realize.

Take off that old self and put on the new by owning who you really are. Then walk in the power you’ve been given.
