And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV)
When you’re going through a rough time, the last thing you need is to be surrounded by Chicken Littles yelling, “The sky is falling! The sky is falling!”
You need to find people who are willing to stand on God’s Word with you.
Think about Moses. When Moses sent twelve spies into the Promised Land, only two—Joshua and Caleb—stayed in faith and kept believing that the Israelites could have what God said they could have. The other ten thought the sky was falling. “The giants are too big. We’re too small. There’s no way this is going to work,” they said (my paraphrase of Numbers 13:33).
These naysayers filled the entire camp with doubt and unbelief. What happened as a result? An entire generation missed out on the promise of God.
If you’re going through a financial crisis, for example, don’t rely on the Chicken Littles to help you through it. They will say things like: “Oh, the economy is bad; no one is making money right now,” or “Oh, I tried that and it didn’t work.” Everything they say will cause you to doubt what God has promised you.
Instead, find believers who are willing to stand strong in faith and speak God’s promises. Ask them to claim Deuteronomy 8:18 with you, and claim it for yourself as well. Say, “Father, you are so good. You bless us in every way possible, including financially. Thank you for giving me the power to get wealth. Help me to use wisdom in my finances.”
