The Prayer Of Worship

Leon FontaineDevoted

Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off! Acts 16:26 (NLT)

Have you ever thought of worship as a type of prayer? Worship has the potential to release incredible power into your situation because it inspires you to believe.

Paul and Silas witnessed this power from deep inside a Roman prison. They had been publicly stripped and “severely beaten” (Acts 16:23, NLT). Badly bruised and bloody, they were shackled and thrown into the darkest, dirtiest part of the prison—the place reserved for the worst criminals.

Think about this situation. It’s easy to worship God when things are going well, but Paul and Silas worshipped God despite their hopeless situation. Not only that, they sang so enthusiastically that the other prisoners heard them loud and clear.

What happened next was miraculous. As they worshipped, the prison shook, cell doors flew open and chains fell off every prisoner!

Do you feel like you are held back by anything? Maybe you need healing, or you’re struggling with a bad habit or addiction. You can worship God in the middle of that situation. I’m not saying that you have to thank Him for your difficult circumstances; just worship Him because He loves you. Thank Him for what He’s done for you, for what He’s going to do and simply for who He is.

There is great power in worship. Express how much you respect, admire and adore God and tell Him what He and His Son Jesus mean to you. If you worship Him when things are difficult, your faith will rise and you will release God’s power into your situation.
