I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Ephesians 3:16 (NLT)
Have you ever looked for a quick fix? I think we’re all guilty of that one. When dealing with a stubborn issue, we can get desperate for answers.
Some people tend to focus on trying to find the right prayer line or some sort of special, new spiritual key to being set free, but in the process, they forget something vital. They forget to make sure their inner selves are being renewed every day.
You see, you don’t get the amazing life Jesus died to give you by finding the right spiritual key or by getting the right people to pray for you. You also don’t get it by asking for it and doing nothing. You get it by being renewed by His love and His presence every day.
When Paul prayed for the Ephesians in our verse today, he prayed for this inner strength. He also described how we gain access to it. Getting rooted in Jesus’ love is what keeps us strong (v. 17). As we keep seeking to understand “how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is, that love makes us complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God” (v. 18–19).
God never intended you to live so impacted by negative events that you can no longer enjoy life. Your mind was not designed to be drained by problems. Serving Jesus is not about barely getting by, it’s about victory.
Right now, take some time to meditate on how much Jesus loves you. Think about what He’s done for you and for all of us. “Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong” (Ephesians 3:17, NLT).
