And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! James 3:10 (NLT)
The spoken word is the most powerful thing in the world. It’s how God created the universe. It’s the key that unlocks the process of becoming strong in your faith. And it’s the way you release God’s power into your world.
All throughout the Bible, you’ll find verses about confessing the Word. Nowadays, confession is usually associated with something negative like confessing your sins or pleading guilty in a court of law. But when the Bible says to confess, it means to declare the Word, speak to mountains and prophesy your future.
Both the spirit world and the physical world have to obey the spoken Word of God. So, when you speak God’s promises out loud and convince your heart, it dominates every area.
What do you say on a regular basis? “I’m so forgetful,” “My eyesight is failing,” or “The cost of living is getting so expensive, we’re going to lose the house.” Words like these are actually agreeing with the curse of the law found in Deuteronomy 28. Yet as a believer, Jesus has redeemed you from every part of the curse—so why would you accept it any longer?
On the other hand, your words can come into agreement with the blessings of God. Speaking His promises is a powerful way to plant them in your heart. This is part of the process of working out your own salvation (Philippians 2:12). It’s not a matter of whether you’re saved or not—it’s about renewing your mind with the Word of God.
As you become convinced of what is yours in Christ, your declarations of faith will unleash incredible power!
