The Key to Strength

By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left. 2 Corinthians 6:7

Today’s verse reveals the key to being strong in the Lord; it’s God’s Word, and it doesn’t have to take long.

What often helps me to tune in to God’s presence is finding a verse that touches me. For example, I might be reading through Ephesians 6 when I’m stopped by the verse about being strong (v. 10). At first I might think, “I’m trying to be as strong as I can, Father.” But then he brings my attention to the part where it says to be strong in the Lord.
All of sudden I’ll begin to reassess how I’ve been handling things. I might question, Am I stressed? Unhappy? Exhausted? Irritable? Frustrated? Have I been relying only on my own energy lately?
Then I might pray, “Okay, Father. Thank you for this reminder. I am strong in your presence. Thank you that this time with you is causing me to access that strength right now.” Then I begin to be aware of God’s strength in me, touching my body and calming my mind.
It’s possible to come away from a short time with God feeling clear and reenergized. How does this work? I don’t know, but I do know that the spirit realm dominates all other realms—physical, emotional and mental. That’s why spending time in God’s Word is so essential, because it can affect every other area of your life in a powerful way.
Don’t let a busy schedule stop you from spending time with God. It doesn’t have to take long to become more aware of the incredible power and strength he’s placed in you.
