Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2
When people get sick, they often wonder if it’s because they’ve done something wrong. The problem with this thinking is that it sabotages faith.
As they’re trying to believe for a miracle, inside they’re really thinking, “God is punishing me.”
Although the devil has been stripped of power, he’s also the greatest liar on the planet. He even uses the Bible to lie to us, as he tried to do with Jesus in the desert (Matthew 4:6). Often he’ll try to remind us of verses from the old covenant—ones that don’t apply to believers today because we’re under the new covenant that Jesus initiated when he died for us.
For example, when we’re standing in faith for a miracle, we often think we have to do something to try to fix or clean up our lives as best we can to earn that healing. But that’s not how miracles happen. Miracles happen when we focus on Jesus.
Satan will try to keep you focused on the problem, on your behaviour, on your situation—on anything BUT Jesus. But Jesus is the Author and the Finisher—the beginning and end—of our faith.
It’s as though Jesus is saying, “Focus on me, because your faith begins and ends with me. I’m the reason to have faith and I’m the reason nothing is held back from you.” Remember that every promise is yours, and it’s all inside of you because Holy Spirit lives inside you!
