What are your dreams for the future? You might dream of a better life for your family, more financial stability, better living conditions, or improved health and relationships. Those are all great dreams, but let me tell you about the best dream of all.
Paul spoke of this dream in Philippians 3:7–11. His greatest desire was to know God (v. 8).
Have you developed a passionate desire to know God yourself? You need to know that this desire is one you can increase intentionally. You can dream of looking forward to your time with God.
Picture yourself sitting down with your Bible, smiling as you sense how He’s leading you to understand His Word and His plans for your life. If you love nature, picture yourself doing your favourite outside activity, feeling so close to God as you talk with Him.
Dream about talking with your Father God all throughout your day—waking up and taking a minute to thank Him for the day, taking a few minutes during your coffee break at work to get some guidance, and developing an awareness of His constant presence and love.
John 10:3 says, “the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out” (NLT).
You can learn to hear from God, but don’t get hung up on hearing Him audibly. The Bible teaches that God speaks to us in our spirits.
Develop a dream of being better able to sense and know God inside your heart. Then, spend time with Him every day and you will achieve the best dream of all—knowing Him.
