THE BATTLE IS TO MAKE YOU WEARY

He will speak words against the Most High [God] and wear down the saints of the Most High… Daniel 7:25 (AMP)

Have you ever felt weary? I’m not talking about physical exhaustion, a good night’s sleep can cure tiredness, but weariness is different. It goes beyond fatigue and affects us emotionally. And when emotionally or mentally drained, people can begin to make unwise decisions.

Weariness can cause people to give up on their dreams, quit their marriages or take their own lives. It can shut down people’s hope and creativity until they’re just going through the motions of existing. The signs of emotional exhaustion were never more visible than during the pandemic.

We must recognize that we have an enemy on this planet whose goal is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). He is constantly trying to stop God’s Kingdom from advancing through whatever means possible. Satan actively uses strategies to wear you down because he knows the negative effects and distressing outcomes they cause.

It reminds me of a frazzled lady who approached me one day and asked if I would pray that the devil stop attacking her. I said, “You don’t want me to pray that! That’s praying that you’ll die because Heaven is the only place free from the enemy’s attacks.” She quickly changed her mind as we talked through ways to successfully defeat the enemy’s tactics instead.

Weariness is treatable. You don’t need to exist in a permanent state of emotional exhaustion. God’s Word provides stunning answers to dealing with it effectively and in the days ahead, we’ll dive into recognizing causes, effects and ways to handle it.
