But thank God, though you were once slaves of sin, you have become obedient with all your heart to the standard of teaching in which you were instructed and to which you were committed. And having been set free from sin, you have become the servants of righteousness (of conformity to the divine will in thought, purpose, and action). Romans 6:17–18 (AMPC)
God wants what’s best for us. The problem is we don’t always know what that is.
All too often, we do what’s easy or what leads to instant gratification. We’re self-focused and do things with only our own interests in mind, believing that whatever we think is good must be good with God too. O en He has something better!
God is the expert on you. He created you, so He knows what will lead you to the best life possible. And what is the best is not always what is the easiest.
I’m not saying God will bring pain and tragedy into our lives. He doesn’t do that. I’m talking about being willing to put what’s import- ant to God first, even if it feels uncomfortable. It’s about trusting Him, putting yourself on the altar and saying, “Father, it’s you first.”
When you have to make a decision, make the best one you can based on what you’ve learned about God and His ways. Stay open to being led by Him and tell others about Jesus. As you submit yourself to God and His Word, He’ll build strength into you. He’ll lead you to live the kind of life that’s beyond your wildest dreams—one filled with the incredible sense of adventure and joy that can only come from partnering all out with God.
