Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
Ephesians 6:17–18 (NIV)
Yesterday we began a series talking about the fight we need to engage in if we want to possess all that God has promised us.
Sometimes we accept a bad situation too quickly. We can think, Well, maybe this is what God wants for my life. But if God wanted us to live miserable lives, why would he have promised us so many blessings?
And if we were supposed to just roll over and accept every bad situation that comes at us, why would the Bible teach us that as Christians we have armour to wear and a sword to use? (See Ephesians 6:10–18.) Aren’t armour and swords used to take new ground and fend off attacks?
The truth is, God has given you a powerful sword (his Word) because he wants you to win! You can claim his promises for your finances, your relationships, your kids, your spouse, your friends, your health…for every area of your life.
Starting tomorrow I’m going to share in each devotional one promise to pray over your life. When you read it over, I want you to stop in that moment, think about the promise and claim it over your life or over someone you know.
It will only take you a minute, but it’s incredibly powerful. You see, you don’t have to accept anything less than God’s promises. It’s time to get up and fight!
