I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)
God will never reject you.
Sometimes as adults, we can struggle to comprehend that we are completely loved, accepted and forgiven by God and in right standing with Him through Jesus. Unlike the way some earthly relationships function, there’s nothing you or I have done—or could ever do—that will make God say to us, “I can’t even look at you. You need to feel my rejection so you will change.”
Rejection doesn’t draw people to God, so what does? Romans 2:4 says it’s the goodness of God that leads us to repentance. It’s His goodness toward us! The day we give our life to Jesus Christ, we become empowered by Him on the inside of our spirit. Wherever we go, His presence flows through us, helping us and others too.
Personal growth and change are integral to our walk as believers. After all, what person doesn’t want to become a better parent or spouse, or want to learn how to handle money instead of being destroyed by overspending and debt? Who wouldn’t want to successfully conquer an addiction, bad habit, mental issue or sexual desire (one outside of God’s boundaries) and want to grow and move on?
Now, none of us are able to do it on our own, and today’s verse assures us we aren’t expected to. It’s Jesus’ strength partnered up and working through us that makes us capable!
Comprehending that we’re not rejected but instead wholly accepted by God just the way we are paves the way for accepting that Jesus is for us, strengthening us in every area of our life.
Thankfully, through Jesus’ strength at work in us, we CAN do all things!
