Stop Worry In Its Tracks

May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the Lord. Psalm 104:34 (NKJV)

Did you know that when you learn to meditate, you get a positive outlook on life?

Biblical meditation involves imagining how the promises of God apply to our lives, and then looking into the future with the eyes of faith to imagine those promises coming to fruition.

Many times, we carry out this process negatively. Instead of imagining God’s promises coming to pass, we imagine the worst. We worry, which is negative imagination. This negative meditation causes us to live in fear instead of faith.

When you begin to meditate on God’s Word and on His goodness, your meditation becomes sweet. Worry and fear subside as they are replaced with faith. You find gladness and hope.

Even when everything is going wrong, meditating on God’s Word and His love, goodness and provision can turn your outlook around. In the Message version of Lamentations 3:19-24, it says, “I’ll never forget the trouble, the utter lostness, the taste of ashes…oh, how well I remember—the feeling of hitting the bottom. But there’s one other thing I remember, and remembering, I keep a grip on hope: God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out, his merciful love couldn’t have dried up. They’re created new every morning. How great your faithfulness!”

God’s mercy, love and faithfulness are new every morning. They’ll never run dry!

“When life is heavy and hard to take, go off by yourself. Enter the silence. Bow in prayer…. Wait for hope to appear…the Master won’t ever walk out and fail to return…. His stockpiles of loyal love are immense” (vv. 28-33, MSG).
