Set The Thermostat

Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses….Oh, that you would choose life….  Deuteronomy 30:19 (NLT)

With a thermostat, you have the ability to set the temperature you want the room to be, and it will display the new temperature.

Someone could glance at the reading and accuse the thermostat of being inaccurate. They might say, “That’s wrong! It’s much colder than that in here!” But a thermostat doesn’t tell you what the temperature currently is. It sets it.

The words you speak are like a thermostat. They set your future.

If you are struggling with an illness and you say, “Jesus has healed my diseases. I am healthy and whole,” you’re not lying. You are setting your thermostat for health and healing. You are choosing life!

As you speak about your future, there are three guidelines to understand. The first is:

Speak in present tense.

Jesus said in Mark 11:22 that we need to believe we have already received what we are asking for, not that we will receive it one day in the future. Otherwise you get caught believing for a future that never comes. Actually, if you say, “I’m going to be healthy,” all that really means is, “I’m NOT healthy right now.”

Tomorrow we will cover the second guideline to speaking about your future, but today, try the following. Say, “I am healed in Jesus’ name,” even if you have not yet received any indication that you are healed. Even if you owe the same buck to seven different people, speak like this: “Father, thank you that you give me the power to make wealth. I claim the fact that I am prosperous and blessed because your Word says I am.”
