How To Rely On God For Help

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33 (NKJV)

We all face challenges in life—challenges in parenting and relationships, challenges in our schooling or career. These challenges are normal, although that doesn’t mean they are easy to walk through. We will all endure struggles—some are impossible to avoid—but this doesn’t mean we have to give in to hopelessness and burnout.

Worry and fear will try to get their tentacles around you, but remember Jesus’s words in today’s verse. If Jesus has overcome everything we struggle with, we can rely on His strength in us to help us.

First, admit that you need Him. The more you realize the limitations of your own human effort, the more you open yourself to walk in the strength God has provided for you.

Next, begin to praise Him despite your circumstances. When you think about all the good things God has done in your life and you thank Him, it pushes out fear and doubt. Instead of stress, you gain confidence.

Finally, ask Him for what you need. Hebrews 4:16 tells us to “fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace” where we can find “appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it.” Boldly ask for what you need and then thank Him for what you trust He’s going to do.

Don’t let the problems and issues you are facing right now become all that you see. God’s power is in you, and His peace and strength will take you through!
