Prayer Makes You Solution-Focused

Receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls. James 1:21 (AMPC)

God loves you and wants to empower you to overcome whatever you are facing.

In this series on prayer, we’ve been discussing how powerful prayer is. However, you can’t only pray and hope that things magically work out. The truth is you can’t expect great results if you simply throw out a few prayers and then spend the rest of your days focusing on the negative.

In addition to prayer, you need to change your focus.

When you’re facing a problem, it can be hard not to focus only on it. But problems don’t need to consume you. According to James 1:21, you do your part to welcome God’s thoughts on your problems and decisions by reading the Bible.

By spending time in God’s Word, you become more focused on the solution. His Word does what no amount of reasoning, therapy or behaviour modification could ever do to change your deepest beliefs. As you focus on His promises instead of your problems, you become infused with passion and hope, which begins an amazing, exciting transformation that continues for the rest of your life!

As you keep this hope alive through your meditation time in God’s Word, you become empowered to take action. You think of creative ways to solve your problems and you begin trying new things. In this way, you’re partnering with God to solve the problem!

Today, decide to put a jump in your step and a smile on your face, no matter what you are facing. Say “God, I need you today. Give me the wisdom I need to overcome everything that comes my way!”
