Praise Sets You on Solid Ground

Leon FontaineDevoted

I waited patiently for the Lord; and He…heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth. Psalm 40:1-3 (NKJV)

One of my earliest childhood memories is the time I followed my dad as he carried beehives across a muddy field. My boots got stuck in the mud, so my dad had to pull me out, carry me on his shoulders and slog through that muck with a hive under each arm. I remember thinking, “Wow, my dad is so strong!”

There are times in life when you feel like you’re walking through the mud, barely able to move forward. Yet in today’s verse, David praises the Lord anyway and declares that God brought him out of the miry clay and set his feet on a rock.

In the middle of whatever is holding you back, decide to focus on God’s Word and declare His praises. As you do, it reminds your heart of who God is and what He has promised you. Praise changes your heart and reawakens your hope for the future.

You can say, “God, thank You for who You are. You are faithful to Your promises. You’re turning this situation around for my good. You’re taking me out of the pit and putting me on solid ground, establishing me in Your favour.”

Praise has a way of taking you out of a nosedive and bringing you to new heights. As you magnify God, you’ll catch the wind under your wings and begin soaring like an eagle. Praise Him and watch as it ushers in a new level of hope, victory and success into your life.
