What’s So Good About The Good News?

The Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor…heal the brokenhearted… proclaim liberty to the captives…comfort all who mourn…. To give them…. The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Isaiah 61:1-3 (NKJV) When some people give their lives to Christ, they begin an exciting journey, but over time something changes. They begin to believe that to be blessed they need to be good. They become influenced by others’ expectations on them or perhaps incorrect teaching and come to believe that if they sin, God has turned His back on them. That is not the Gospel I read about in the Bible. The word Gospel means ‘Good News.’ What is this good news? It certainly isn’t “God is unhappy with you!” …

My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT) Paul encountered many unbelievably difficult situations. When he asked God to take away a particularly stubborn problem, God told Paul that His grace was all that was needed. Through this experience, Paul came to accept God’s help willingly because it gave him an excuse to boast about Christ Jesus! As a believer, of course it is important to work hard, learn and grow in wisdom—but grace (God’s favour, power and ability) is the foundation for it all. If you don’t believe you have His ability …
