“Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears; let the weak say, ‘I am strong.’” Joel 3:10 (NKJV) We usually think words are only for communicating with each other. But the words coming out of your mouth hold power. They have the ability to sink into your heart and change your beliefs—and it’s what you believe that directs your life. If where you are today isn’t lining up with what God’s Word says, then it’s time to change what you’re speaking. Over the next few days, we’ll unpack specific declarations you can confess every day. But for now, I want you to recognize the power of your words. Speaking is one of the most important parts of the process of faith. Jesus said …
Hold Onto Your Confession
Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. Hebrews 4:14 (NKJV) We usually hear the word “confession” in a negative context, like a criminal confessing a crime. But few people realize that when “confession” is used in the Bible, it’s often referring to us speaking the Word. Hebrews 4:14 tells us to “hold fast our confession.” There’s nothing more powerful than consistently confessing the Word of God over your life. Revelation 12:11 (NKJV) says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” A testimony is a verbal declaration. Now think about what’s in your regular conversation. What are you …
The Best Free Gift That Can’t Be Earned
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT) All too often, we as believers struggle to comprehend that we can’t earn our salvation through works. Legalistic, rule-fixated Christianity often teaches that we need to earn salvation and God’s blessings by trying to be good enough. But the trouble is, this makes us self-focused. When all we think about is what we do or how good we are, we’re focused on us, not God. This leaves us stuck in works. We think, “Better behaviour equals more blessing,” but this …
When You Look, What do You See?
Then he placed these peeled branches in the watering troughs where the flocks came to drink, for that was where they mated. And when they mated in front of the white-streaked branches, they gave birth to young that were streaked, speckled, and spotted. Genesis 30:38-39 (NLT) I want to talk about a story that will forever change the way you look at problems. Genesis 30:30-43 tells the story of how God helped Jacob overcome a significant problem in his life: his devious father-in-law, Laban. Jacob had fulfilled his obligations to Laban. But now Jacob wanted the freedom to return to his homeland with his wives and children. So, he presented a plan that had Laban reimburse his wages in livestock. Laban would retain any solid-coloured …
Speak to Your Future
“In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:8 (NKJV) When Jesus died and rose again, He made it possible for us to become members of the Kingdom of God, and in that Kingdom, all of His promises and blessings are ours. The world likes to say, “You can’t have your cake and eat it too”, which is really saying you can be successful in one, maybe two areas at best. However, the blessing of God is different than the world where you only get what you earn. According to God’s Word, you CAN have your cake and eat it too! In other words, you …
