It’s not sitting back passively or thinking that God is withholding an answer to your prayers. Waiting on Him means getting into faith. When we go through a difficult situation, we tend to be focused on the problem at hand. We’re on high alert, waiting for the other shoe to drop. But you and I are self-fulfilling prophets. What we focus on, we magnify in our lives. That’s why it’s crucial for us to guard our focus. Years ago, Sally bought a magnifying glass. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. Isaiah 40:30–31 (NKJV) When it comes to waiting on God, many people think it’s a time-related thing. But it’s actually about preparing your heart and establishing faith. It’s about changing your beliefs with God’s Word. Several Hebrew words are used in the Bible to mean “wait.” One of them carries the meaning of twisting, braiding or binding something together.
