Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil. Ephesians 6:11 (AMP)
Most people think spiritual warfare means there’s a fight going on in your spirit. But if you’re a believer, Jesus is in your spirit, so the enemy is not battling you there.
The truth is, the enemy is after your mind. Your mind is the part of you that makes decisions, and Satan wants that under his manipulative influence. One of the ways he tries to accomplish this is by working to sway your thoughts and beliefs.
He’ll try pushing hurtful thoughts such as, “You’re single because you’re unattractive,” or broader, fear-based ideas like, “There’s no hope for your country.” His goal is to deceive you into making disastrous decisions for your future.
Should you be scared? Only if you’re doing battle without any armour on! However, when believers follow and act on what the Word of God says, the devil doesn’t stand a chance. Second Corinthians 10:4 (NLT) says God has given us mighty weapons to “knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.”
What is a stronghold? It is a wrong thought, imagining or belief. And when we deploy God’s weapons, they work to pull down and demolish any stronghold that comes against what He says. How do we do that?
We arm and protect our minds by consistently spending time in God’s Word. The more you get your mind to submit to the Word, the more you’ll begin to outthink and outmaneuver the devil. Nothing will help you successfully navigate the enemy’s schemes better.
