No Problems = Peace?

I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27 (NLT)

The world thinks peace means the absence of storms, like war, sickness, bad relationships or financial stress.

The problem with this line of thinking is that peace becomes unattainable until we fix all of the issues in our lives. But who lives problem-free? When are we not dealing with money issues, relationship struggles or workplace challenges? When is stuff not pushing against us? When is life ever smooth sailing? Never!

The good news is, God made His peace available to us as believers, and it’s unlike any version of peace the world has to offer! The supernatural peace that God provides is ours in the middle of a storm. It’s ours on the front lines of a battlefield. It’s ours when the world is hollering, “Plague!”, panicking over a virus or freaking out over a situation. God’s peace is truly out of this world!

We don’t need to give in to fear, just because the world around us might be screaming about disease, bankruptcy or social upheaval. As believers, we can know God’s peace when we place our security in Him, and not anything in the world.

If fear keeps knocking on your door, answer it by declaring God’s Word aloud. You could claim Colossians 3:15, for example. You might say, Thank You, Father, that the peace that comes from Christ rules in my heart. When God strengthens my heart, He strengthens it, and I live and walk in His peace!

Jesus gifted us His peace for a reason. Even during storms—believers have access to incredible peace that the world only dreams of!
