More than enough

But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

2 Corinthians 11:3 (NKJV)

Do you ever feel like something is lacking in your life?

When Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden, it was a perfect place. God walked and talked with them in the cool of each day. They were made in the likeness and image of God; they were like Him. They were God’s kids.

When the devil tempted Eve to eat the fruit, he said it would make her like God (Genesis 3:4, NLT). He wanted her to think she lacked something that could only be found by disobeying God.

The simple truth was that Eve was already like God, but she was deceived into believing she needed more. In our verse today, Paul was concerned that we would be deceived in a similar way—tricked into believing that we need something more than Christ.

Many Christians feel that there is still something lacking in their lives. Maybe if they were more devoted, spent more time in prayer or helped others more, God would be more approving. Or that maybe they’re missing out on a lot by choosing to serve God, and they’d find more fulfillment elsewhere.

Don’t fall for the enemy’s lies. He wants you to think that you’re lacking something that is preventing you from having a great life.

The truth is that all you need to have an incredibly close relationship with God is Jesus, and through your relationship with God, you have everything you need to build a life that’s better than your wildest dreams. Jesus is more than enough!
