MAKE YOUR GREATEST IMPACT

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart. Psalm 37:4 (AMPC)

Some were raised with the belief that to serve God, you should continually suffer for Him. They were taught that to be a true Christian, you should accept poverty, sickness and terrible working conditions as your lot in life.

I’m not knocking those who sacrifice for Jesus at all. Often, we are called to step into situations that cause us to give up our comfort—but having a mentality that God wants you to be pressed down and unhappy all the time implies that you can never have an exciting dream.

The truth is, being miserable does not make you more holy. Psalm 37:4 says that if you delight yourself in the Lord, you can have the dreams of your heart.

God has placed dreams in your heart regarding your future. If you work best with people, you can bet that God’s plans for you involve working on a team. If you love to work with your hands, He had a reason for creating you that way. God doesn’t create people with natural tendencies only to force them to never make use of them. That just doesn’t make sense.

Of course, I’m not talking about selfish desires here. God gives us the desire to create a positive impact with our lives. We can have great dreams and desires that are not selfish, and God wants to fulfill those dreams!

God won’t force a direction on you. Simply get to know Him. As you do, you will discover what He has placed in you, and He will show you how to make your greatest impact in life.
