Make It Positive

And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.  1 John 5:15 (NLT)

Yesterday we talked about the importance of speaking in the present tense when you are claiming God’s promises for your life. Your heart functions in the present, not the past or the future. It goes to work when you say that you are healthy, not you’re going to be. Instead of saying you will get out of debt one day, say you’re debt-free now. And you aren’t going to be happy or at peace one day. You’re filled with Jesus’ peace and joy right now.

Here is another thing to keep in mind as you speak about your life:

Speak positively.

All of God’s promises are positive and uplifting for you, so your speech should be positive, too. You can’t come up with solutions when all you talk about is what’s wrong! And when you dream about the future, make it positive. God doesn’t want you to dream about things that are bad for you. This is why Jesus said that even thinking about committing a sin is sin because it can hurt you. Dreaming about wrong things plants wrong desires and causes you to go after fulfilling those desires.

As you begin to speak more positively, it changes the picture in you. You begin to see bills paid, a nice home, a college fund for your kids. You see yourself healthy and enjoying life.

Oh, you will still have problems you will have to deal with. We all do. But if you speak positively about your life, you will compound or magnify the positive. You will be working with Holy Spirit to create a positive, hope-filled future.
