Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident… Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Psalm 27:3, 13 (NLT)
When people define confidence, they often think of it as believing in yourself and your power or ability. That is not how God defines confidence.
God-confidence is completely different. It comes from knowing that you are priceless to Him—so much so that He sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to die for you. It is a certainty that there is nothing you cannot handle with His help. Essentially, God-confidence is a confidence in God, not in self. It is really, truly trusting in Him—in His unending love for you and His immeasurably good plans for your life.
The book of Psalms makes many references to trusting in God and in the Amplified Bible it is translated this way: “I trust, lean on, rely on, and am confident in You” (Psalm 25:2). I love the picture this paints. When you feel unsteady, you look for someone to lean on so you can walk with the confidence that you will not fall. Holy Spirit is always there to steady you when you hit rough terrain. He is not only walking beside you, but He is in you, giving you His rock-solid, firm support wherever you go.
If you are facing a difficult day, turn to God for the confidence you need. Think about it: the awe-inspiring maker of the universe lives inside you. Is there anything you cannot face?
