Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”).
Galatians 3:13 (NKJV)
Instead of saying, “Hello,” when they greet each other, the people of the Northern Natal tribes of South Africa say, “Sawubona,” which means, “I see you.” It is a very personal greeting that has a unique depth to it.
This is the way God greets you.
When Jesus died on the cross, He died for the sin of mankind. But it wasn’t the crucifixion or the soldiers who killed Him. What killed Jesus was taking on the sin nature of mankind.
You see, when Adam and Eve chose to
disobey God and follow Satan’s advice in the Garden of Eden, they took on the nature of their new master, Satan. We call this the nature of sin. The wages of sin is death, according to Romans 6:23, along with the curse of the law documented in Deuteronomy 28. However, Jesus took our sin nature and the curse. He purchased us back from Satan.
When you chose to make Jesus your Lord and Saviour, that sin nature within you was replaced by the nature of God. A miraculous change took place on a spiritual level as you became a new creation in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17)—a child of God.
As a result, God doesn’t greet you with a shallow, “Hello,” the way we greet someone as we quickly pass by, hoping they don’t stop to answer because we don’t really have time to talk. He meets you with an, “I see you,” but never in a judgmental way because the “you” that He sees has His nature within.
God sees you and He loves what He sees.
